2026 Member’s Show

Member artists will showcase their art in the media of their choice, resulting in our community’s most imaginative pieces of art. What statements are the artists trying to make? Is their work stimulating, insightful, intriguing? Perhaps it is whimsical! Perhaps mischievous! This exhibition will be as interesting and varied as our artist community! The Yellow Springs Arts Council Gallery Program empowers member artists, performers and presenters to showcase local works. Our presenting artists enhance the community’s creative spirit through their art.

Torrent by Rachel Hall
Opening Reception Friday, March 6th from 6:00pm – 9:00pm
Rachel Hall is an oil painter, draftsman, and photographer based out of Yellow Springs, OH. She grew up in a large homeschooled, nomadic family and landed in the village in 2008. She graduated with high honors both for her Associate of Art from Sinclair Community College and for her Bachelor’s from Ohio University (OU) in 2023. Among various awards for her artistic achievement across both schools and beyond, she won the Benjamin A. Gilman Scholarship to study art abroad in London during her time at OU. Her work is held in the permanent collection of Sinclair and is a frequent highlight of the Yellow Springs art community. Deeply driven by the twisting lines and shapes of the local landscape, Rachel spends all the time she can out in the beauty of the village. When not in her studio you can find her in the Glen behind an easel.

Mixed Media Sculptural Vessels
Earth’s tiny creatures are disappointed in a world that is out of control. We have taken their subtle abundance for granted, always assuming there will be more. But these fragile, quiet beings no longer feel welcome in a growingly hostile world. They are taking the advice often heard during times of unrest, “If you don’t like it, you should leave”, so they are. They have built their mini spaceships and they are leaving us. What do we do when the small things we take for granted abandon us? What do we do when the tiny beasts we scare away aren’t just butterflies and beetles, but creatures like empathy, forgiveness and grace? What will we do when the little pieces that make the big things work go away?
Tara M.R. Anderson works out of her home studio in Wilberforce, Ohio. Inspired by both nature and industry, her work attempts to combine those elements in new and innovative ways. She grew up on a small Kentucky farm where wild peacocks roosted freely on wrought iron fences and old farm machines slowly decayed into the ground, which helped form the foundation for her current artistic inspiration and style. After studying at Antioch College in the ‘90s, she received her BFA from Ohio University in 2003. She currently lives outside of Yellow Springs, with her 3 amazing children and 3 mundane cats.

I think that quote sums up my philosophy in art – “I still have something to say and I am saying it through my artwork”.
I began my art journey after I retired in March 2021. I created a painting for my sister and I thought “I could do this” . That’s when TNP Artistic Imperfections was born. I started off painting at my kitchen table and realized I needed more space. So I converted half my basement to my art studio. My walls are filled with all different shapes and colors of canvases and I love it!
As any artist knows, this journey has its ups and downs, its good days and its bad days. But what I like and what I enjoy about painting is that you can get lost in what you are doing. When I tell you that I think outside the box, I think outside the box. You will see that in all of my work. I look at different shapes and think how can I incorporate this into a painting, ie “Mary’s Buttons” or “Out of Alignment” and “Neapolitan”.
Come, let your imagination “Think Outside the Box” and it’s okay to step “Out of This World” for a few minutes.

Cydnie King: Surrounded

Cydnie King presents a body of work full of colorful flora and the eyes of fauna, both often paired with technological circuits. The plants have circuits flowing through them to illustrate the way she views the human connection to nature and how we use genetic modification of nature to manipulate it. The eyes of specific animals are the eyes of often feared animals and the source of common phobias. Cydnie wants viewers to stare their fears right in the eye and confront them in a different way. She wants to have you feeling surrounded by nature and the creatures that inhabit it when you walk into the gallery.
Cydnie is constantly influenced by nature and an inherent need to create. “I feel as though I must create. I must show that a leaf is not just a leaf to me. I feel a deep need inside myself to bring that beauty and power I see to the forefront and make others stop and see even a fraction of what I do.”
Cydnie L. King was born and raised in St. Louis, Missouri to a family of artists. After graduating from Webster University in 2012 with a BA in Studio Art, she moved to Fairborn, Ohio in 2014 where she currently lives with her husband, son, daughter and dog. Her work is featured in several private and public collections across the Midwest, including The University of Dayton. Holiday Art Jumble and Fundraiser
The Village’s favorite second hand sale will return to help with your holiday shopping! Locals have donated jewelry, glass, dishware, hand crafter pottery, bits and pieces, and art from around the world and from right here in Yellow Springs. The selection changes frequently, as new items are donated. The artist supply table is back so you can scratch that creative itch. Be sure to visit and see what treasures you can find!
