January

  • An Evening of Art, Music & Poetry @ YSAC – January 18, 2019, 7:00pm
    • Featured Artists Nancy Jane Epling, BK Elias, Lukas Zaff, Tony Lewis, Domonique Couch, and Cameron James. Music by Dylan Sage & Jay Teilhet, and poetry by Maiya Celeste and Conor Jameson. $5 Suggested Donation.
  • “The Timeline Show” – John Bryan Community Gallery. January 18-June 30
    • The YSAC Permanent Collection Local Art History Series
    • Presented by the YS Arts Council and the YS Historical Society. Sponsored by the YS Arts & Culture Commission. Hosted by the Village of Yellow Springs at the John Bryan Community Center in the Rose Wing of the John Bryan Community Center, 2nd floor of the John Bryan Center. Featuring a private collection of Center Stage Head Shots by Ron Siemer. Opening Reception January 18th, 6-8:30pm.

February

  • “Time” YSAC Members Show – February 15-March 10
    • It’s time for our members to surprise and delight us! Can’t say what art or even what artists will be in the show yet, but it’s always a wonderful show, jam packed with many different mediums and styles. Opening Reception February 15, 6-9pm. Reception includes “Jazz For Valentines: A One Night Stand For the Evening After” with Mitch Coleman on Piano, J.R. Erb on Bass, and Ian Moretensen on Drums.

March

  • “Lifeworlds II” Photography by John Lundy – March 15-April 14
    • Dr.John Lundy is a Canadian photographer, philosopher, and social theorist and an award-winning photographer. “Lundy’s photos are visual poetry… reminders that we are actually witnesses to thousands of everyday tiny-big miracles.” -Dr. Renee Jackson. Opening Reception March 15, 6-9pm.

April

  • “Through the Eyes of Joseph Robinson” Paintings and Poetry of Yellow Springs -April 19-May 12
    • A celebration of the life and works of Joseph Robinson – a poet, artist, and longtime resident of Yellow Springs. The collection of poetry and artwork provides a look through the aritst’s own eyes of his life in Yellow Springs. His bright watercolor paintings of local structures convey the love he had for the town he called home and the people who resided there with him. Opening Reception April 19, 6-9pm.

May

  • “Four Young Artists” May 17 – June 16
    • Artists: Jenna Brunk, Onica Garrett, Tony Powers, and Dylan Sage.
    • Sponsored by the Community Foundation. Presented by Gary Birch. Each Artist has an individual signature. What they share is an emphasis and a voice from the present. They speak to the young and anyone affected by the living moment. Opening Reception May 17, 6-9pm.

June

  • “Celebrating 70 Years of Fiber Arts” The Weavers Guild of Miami ValleyJune 21- July 14
    • The Weavers Guild of Miami Valley is a non-profit educational organization promoting handweaving, spinning, and many other textile arts. Their members include beginners and professionals. The organization volunteers their time to teach others and will be celebrating their 70th year in 2019. Their meetings are open to the public once a month at 7:00 PM on the second Tues from September through June. More information available at wgmv.org. Opening Reception June 21, 6-9pm.

July

  • “Paths in Paradise” Art by Roger Smith  July 19 -August 8
    • This special show combines recent Ohio and Florida work. Long time local collectors will find this show a great temptation, they will have the chance to see a wide variety of his recent paintings, from small intimate gems from the Glen to glowing Florida seascapes. Opening Reception July 19, 6-9pm

August

  • “Suffragists: And They Persisted!” – August 16-September 15
    • Quilts Celebrating the Passage of the 19th Amendment, 1920.
    • To celebrate the 100th anniversary of the passage of the Nineteenth Amendment, which gave women the right to vote, the Miami Valley Quilt Network decided to mount an exhibition of quilts commemorating the women who fought for this amendment. Opening Reception August 16, 6-9pm.
    • The Yellow Springs Historical Society will hold a program on the Suffragists at the YSAC Gallery Sunday, September 15, 2-4pm.

September

  • Historical Society ‘Suffragettes” Program @ YSAC Gallery – September 15, 2-4pm.
  • “An Art Teacher’s Visual Memoir” Art by Susan Wolf – September 20-October 13
    • After studying painting seriously, Susan Wolf’s career goals collided with life’s circumstances, resulting in a professional career that began and ended with teaching art for children at many age levels, from early childhood through middle school. These paintings of children working on their art projects and proudly sharing their artworks with others commemorate her teaching experience through a creative medium that she cherishes. Opening Reception September 20, 6-9pm.

October

  • “Six Artists” October 18-November 10
    • Artists: Gary Birch, Lincoln Castricone, Michael Jones, Richard Lapedes, Brian Maughan, Brian Millar.
    • This group show will feature a mix of photography, painting, sculpture, woodworking, and ceramics. Each artist will make his mark in the gallery. There will be beauty, grandeur, irreverence and humor. Opening Reception October 18, 6-9pm.
  • Yellow Springs Open Studios – October 19 & 20
    • Presented by the Yellow Springs Arts Council and Yellow Springs Chamber of Commerce. Visit local art studios, meet the artists and see how they work on this free tour. Click here for more information including artist lists, maps, and more!

November

  • YSAC Holiday Art Jumble – November 16-December 23
    • Wednesday-Sunday 1-4pm, with some extended weekend hours (TBA).
    • A grand reshuffling of Yellow Springs Art! Donated art and artsy stuff is sold at bargain basement prices as a fundraiser for the YSAc Gallery!
    • Members-Only Sale & “First Dibs” Party November 15.

December

  • YSAC Holiday Art Jumble – Continues until December 23.
  • Holiday Concert w/ Heartstrings – December 14

All Year

  • Yellow Springs Hootenanny A community song circle with acoustic instruments. Come to sing, play or listen. Any acoustic instrument welcome. Third Saturday of each month, 6-8:30pm.
  • Yellow Springs Ukukele Club – Four String Fun! A forum to play and learn the ukulele, all levels of experience welcome. Second and fourth Wednesday of each month, 6-8:30pm.
