    • 20th – The Permanent Collection Art & History Series–”Beyond Flour and Sugar” Honoring The Legacy of Wheeling Gaunt and Yellow Springs In the Civil War Era
      • 6-9 pm – Hosted by Antioch Midwest. Presented by the YS Arts Council and the YS Historical Society.
      • 6-7:30 pm – Civil War Songs played by Heartstrings
      • 6:15 pm – Unveiling of Gaunt Bust by Brian Maughan, Kick off of Campaign for full bronze for YS Public Art. New Work donated to the Permanent Collection. Tours of the YSAC Permanent Collection.
      • 7:30-9 pm – Historical talks by Dave Neuhardt “Yellow Springs In the Civil War Era” and by Steven Deal “Wheeling Gaunt”.

    February

    • 11th – Arts Alive!
    • 17th – Mar 12th – The YSAC Annual Members Show – Breaking the Rules: Art by YSAC Members
      • 17th – 6-9 pm Reception
      • 6-8:30 pm – Voting for The People’s Choice Award
      • 7-8 pm – Performance by Top Hat Bill. Bill White has been singing
        and telling stories since he was four years old. He sings songs from
        1850-1960s from show tunes to love song to comedy and everything in between. Bill received his Degree
        In Theater and Dance from Wittenberg University where he developed his unique style.
      • 8:30 pm – The People’s Choice Award winner announcement.

    March

    • 11th – Arts Alive!
    • 17th – Apr 16th – “Try Another Way” Redefining Dis-abilities
      • 17th 6-9 pm – Opening Reception – Community Show presented by Nicki Strouss – A show about the experience of living with a disability or being a part of the life of a person with a disability.
      • “People without disabilities or without friends or family with disabilities, sometimes have difficulty understanding and relating to those of us who live with a disability. This show hopes to bridge that gap. Our lives are not that different from others, we just sometimes have to Try Another Way to succeed.”

    April

    • 8th – Arts Alive!
    • 21st – May 14th • “Bosom Buddies” – A Journey Through Breast Cancer
      • 21st 6-9 pm – Opening Reception – Presented by the Jafagirls
      • Two friends and invited guests share how a diagnosis of breast cancer affects patients, friends and family. This is an exploration of the creative ways, they have dealt with the roller coaster of emotions: of fear, anger, grief, bewilderment, and joy.

    May

    • 13th – Arts Alive!
    • 19th – Jun 11th – 1 in 5 – Art by Kathryn Olson
      • 19th – 6-9 pm – Opening Reception – The struggle with my mind and my body is what I am left with. Because of what happened I am to be blamed by how I am dressed, how I act, what my sexual history is, and I have no voice in any of it. Displaying a visual representation on my personal experience with rape and sexual assault, 1 in 5 reflects on and continues the conversations that I have with myself.
    • 30th – 2-5 pm – “BLING!” – Afternoon Tea with the Fashion Gang
      • $20 admission
      • All proceeds going to the YSAC

      • Have Afternoon Tea with the fashion gang and explore the vital importance of accessorizing your “look”. From last year’s highly popular Historical Clothing Series, Deb Henderson, Bette Kelley, Bill White and Celise McKee are coming back to talk about clothing accessories, both historical and current.
      • Wear all the bling you want: hats, scarves, jewelry, gloves, belts, shoes, and jackets!
      • Sue Hawkey, our Tea Party Expert is hosting the scrumptious Afternoon Tea.

    June

    • 16th – Jul 16th – “Earth Patterns” – New Ceramics, Works on Paper and Collaborative Vessels by Dianne Collinson and Friends.
      • 16th – 6-9 pm – Opening Reception Speckled and spotted, textured and smooth, the beauty of the world where feathers, leaves and reflections mimic and call each other across landscape and species. The infinite variety of nature’s patterns migrate from the fields, forests and sea, the owl’s plumage repeated on the surface of paper and clay, and crystal waters cast forward in the depth of a glaze.
    • 25th – Noon-5 pm – “Art House Hop” – A Self-Guided Tour of Yellow Springs Private Art Collections
      • Featuring Some Special Gardens Too!

    • 8th – Arts Alive!
    • 21st – Aug 13th – “The Language of Flowers”
      • 21st – 6-9 pm – Opening Reception Photographs by Nancy Howell-Koehler
      • Flower Arrangements by Glen Garden Gifts
      • Nancy Howell-Koehler captures the essence of a living plant through a process that is immediate, and detailed. She scans the original live flower composition with the background and all details fixed in place.

    August

    • 12th – Arts Alive!
    • 18th – Sep 10th – “Silks & Wire” Fine Jewelry and Wearable Art – Art by Gayle Sampson and Talitha Greene
      • 18th – 6-9 pm – Opening Reception A Fiber Artist and a Jeweler sat
        next to each other one day, and fell in love with each other’s work. The outcome was Talitha Greene and Gayle Sampson creatively collaborating together for a year to create “Silk & Wire; original artisan and fine jewelry and wearable art.

    September

    • 3rd – Sketch Crawl – Spend a morning walking with your sketchbook, pen/ pencil/watercolors with a group of other artists. We’ll stop 6 times to do 15 minute sketches capturing the buildings, trees, streets and public spaces of downtown Yellow Springs.
      • 11 am – 1 pm – Sketching Downtown Village Life
      • 11 am – We’ll meet in front of the Winds Wine Cellar at 209 Xenia Ave.
      • 1-3 pm – The Crawl ends at the YS Brewery for beer, sharing sketches, and talking about the experience.
    • 9th – Arts Alive!
    • 15th – Oct 15th – “Portals From Different Worlds” – Art by Tom Verdon and Madeleine Magill
      • 15th – 6-9 pm – Opening Reception Expressive Portraits from a seasoned artist meet Phantasmic Worlds from a young newcomer.

    October

    • 20th – Nov 12th – “Following Ernst Haas: Photos of Yellow Springs and From Abroad” – Work by Keith Doubt
      • 20th – Opening Reception during Art Stroll – The celebrated Austrian photographer Ernst Haas said, “The camera only facilitates the taking. The photographer must do the giving in order to transform and transcend ordinary reality. The problem is to transform without deforming.” This show by a local resident seeks to follow the example and guiding principles of Haas’ influential work.
    • 21st & 22nd – 11-5 pm – Open Studios – Free Self Guided Tour of Yellow Springs Artists’ Studios
